CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Salisbury University junior captain Kyle Westbrook has been named ECAC South Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Salisbury, Md., native has led the defense to two straight conference shutouts, as the Sea Gulls moved to 9-2 for the season, 2-0 in the CAC. Westbrook held a strong backline in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Penn State University-Harrisburg, only allowing four shots, two on goal.
The Sea Gulls' defense is now at 360 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. They rank No. 3 in the nation in shutout percentage, possessing a 0.73, as well as holding the most clean sheets for the season with eight.
The men are back in action on Wednesday, October 9, as they travel to University of Mary Washington for a conference clash with the Eagles. The contest is set to kickoff at 4 p.m.
