MINNEAPOLIS -- The Salisbury University men's soccer team ranks No. 16 in D3soccer.com's poll released on Tuesday, after starting the season off with a strong 5-0 record.
The Sea Gulls have held strong offensively and defensively so far this season. They lead the country in assists, goals and points with 18, 23 and 64, respectively, as well as four shutouts through five matches, giving up one goal. Salisbury holds a .80 shutout percentage which places them ninth overall.
Leading the poll this week with 617 points is the defending national champion, Messiah College, after receiving 23 first-place votes. The Falcons carry a 4-0 record.
Salisbury travels to New Jersey on Saturday, Sept. 14, for a top-20 clash with No. 13 University of Rutgers-Camden. The Scarlet Raptors hold a 6-0 record after recently taking down Eastern University, 5-0. Last season, Salisbury fell short to Rutgers-Camden, 3-2, in two overtime periods. Saturday's match is set to begin at 2 p.m., at RUC Park.
