SU men’s soccer earns sixth NSCAA College Team Academic Award in 2010-11

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team earned 2011 NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) College Team Academic Award honors, the organization announced.

Salisbury, the only Capital Athletic Conference team to win the award this season, posted a team grade-point average of 3.03 for the 2010-11 academic year, earning the distinction for the fourth straight season and sixth time in program history. SU was one of 789 programs across all three NCAA divisions to earn the award with a 3.0-or-better GPA.

Overall, 571 women's teams and 218 men's teams garnered recognition. Of that total, 157 schools had both men's and women's teams honored.

The Sea Gulls (13-3-4, 7-1-0 CAC) advanced to the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in five seasons and 10th overall in 2011. SU played to a scoreless draw with Neumann University but failed to move on in penalty kicks.
