Vnenchak named ECAC south region Defensive Player of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Salisbury University junior goalkeeper John Vnenchak has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Region Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Vnenchak helped the No. 17 SU men's soccer team to a to a pair of shutouts in a 3-0 win at St. Mary's (Md.) College last Monday and a 1-0 victory over Stevenson University Wednesday.

Vnenchak made three saves each in the shutouts which were his fifth and sixth of the season. The Flanders, N.J., native has seven total and five consecutive clean sheets.

For the season, Vnenchak has compiled a 9-2-3 record, 0.65 goals-against average, .842 save percentage and 48 saves.

Top-seeded Salisbury (13-2-3) hosts the Capital Athletic Conference championship match against third-seeded York (Pa.) College Saturday at a time to be announced.
