Tombini, Greene each score twice as Sea Gulls blank Ursinus, 5-0

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Junior Adrian Tombini and freshman Matt Greene scored two goals apiece as the Salisbury University men's soccer team defeated Ursinus College, 5-0, in the Seahawk Classic at St. Mary's (Md.) College's Seahawk Stadium Saturday.

Salisbury (4-0-0), which had its best offensive showing of the season, opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Tombini converted a feed from senior Ian Wilson for the lead. The assist on Tombini's first goal of the season was Wilson's first of two on the day.

Sophomore Trevor Sharpe added to the lead with his first goal of the season from classmate Adam Quigley in the 31st minute to go into the break up, 2-0.

Tombini and Wilson hooked up again in the 63rd minute for a three-goal advantage before Greene notched goals in the 82nd (from sophomore Larry Cornish) and 87th minutes for the final margin.

Junior goalkeeper John Vnenchak picked up one save in 73:18 to earn the win and second shutout of the year in the SU net. Mike Alfieri made 18 saves for Ursinus (1-2-0) in the loss.

The Sea Gulls held an advantage in shots, 32-4, and corner kicks, 9-0, in the contest.

Salisbury faces Franklin & Marshall College on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Seahawk Classic.
