KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its All-South Atlantic Region teams and two members of the Salisbury University men's soccer team were honored.
Senior defender Justin Lambert was named to the first-team, while senior forward Mike Napolitano was named to the third-team. In 2009, Lambert was named to the second-team, while Napolitano makes his first appearance on the All-Region teams since 2008.
Lambert had a strong senior season in which he played and started in 17 games and was named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference first team for the first time in his two-year career at Salisbury. The Silver Spring, Md., native was a defensive stalwart for the nation's 18th best defense, as the SU defense limited opponents to just 0.52 goals per game. Lambert served as a distributor on the offensive end for Salisbury, as he dished out five assists in 2010. For his career at Salisbury, Lambert played in 37 total games and finished with 14 points on three goals and eight assists.
Napolitano wrapped up his final season with the maroon and gold with a fine year in which he garnered All-CAC first-team honors in addition to the All-Region nod. The Ellicott City, Md., native finished with a team-high 18 points on two assists and eight goals, including five game-winners. Napolitano played and started in 19 games this season, giving him 75 appearances for his four-year career. Napolitano finished with 69 career points, on 29 goals and 13 assists.
Familiar company joined the two SU student-athletes on the All-South Atlantic Region teams, as 17 players honored played on teams the Sea Gulls squared off with in 2010.
SU head coach Gerry DiBartolo has coached 53 All-Region recipients in his 29 seasons at the helm for the Sea Gulls. This marks the 13th consecutive season under DiBartolo that he has had at least two players garner All-Region honors.
