Sea Gulls hold steady at No. 20 in first regular season NSCAA Top 25 poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its first regular
season Top 25 poll on Tuesday and the Salisbury University men's
soccer team held steady at No. 20 in the nation.
The first South Atlantic region rankings were also released on
Tuesday and the Sea Gulls (2-0-1) currently stand at No. 3 in
the regional rankings. Christopher Newport University
(3-0), ranked No. 3 nationally, is the top team in the South
Atlantic region. The Sea Gulls will get the opportunity to square
off with the Captains on Oct. 27 in Newport News, Va.
Salisbury had an impressive first week as the Gulls posted a 5-0
victory over 2009 NCAA tournament team Catholic University of
America. SU then played host to the annual Elmer Lord Memorial
Classic over the weekend and defeated Geneseo State 2-1 and played
to a 110-minute scoreless draw with Elizabethtown College.
The Sea Gulls will return to action this Wednesday, as they are
set to host Eastern Shore rival Washington (Md.) College at 4 p.m.
at the SU Soccer Complex.
