Sea Gulls shut out Saints, 8-0, in CAC match-up

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Salisbury University men's soccer team shut out Capital Athletic Conference foe Marymount (Va.) University, 8-0, on Wednesday evening. The victory gives Salisbury (11-2-1, 5-0-1 CAC) a three-game CAC winning streak, as the Gulls have outscored their opponents 17-1 in the past three match-ups.

The maroon and gold were led by senior midfielders Alex Hargrove (Clarks Summit, Pa.) and Ben Reed (Arnold, Md.) who collectively scored the first four goals of the match for the Sea Gulls, creating a commanding 4-0 lead in the first half. This margin was extended in the second half, as four different Sea Gulls found the back of the net to give Salisbury its ninth shut-out victory of the season. Salisbury maintained control of the contest, outshooting Marymount (7-6-1, 3-3 CAC) 21-11 in the win.

The four other goals were scored by senior midfielder Kyle Sterling (Salisbury, Md.), senior forward Nick Malone (Salisbury, Md.), junior midfielder Dave Corrigan (Brookfield, Conn.) and sophomore midfielder Nolan Rodman (Bethesda, Md.). The final goal for the Sea Gulls, scored by Rodman in the 76th minute of play, was his first of the season.
