DeLisle named CAC Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference Player of the Week awards and Salisbury University junior midfielder Ben DeLisle (Baltimore, Md.) was named the men's soccer co-recipient. DeLisle shares the award with Stevenson University's Ansger Otto.

DeLisle had a strong week for the Sea Gulls (14-2-1, 7-0-1 CAC) as he dished out a pair of assists on game-winning goals. In last Wednesday's 2-1 victory over No. 1 Christopher Newport University, DeLisle set up over a free kick and played the ball directly onto the foot of junior defender Justin Lambert (Silver Spring, Md.) who slotted the ball past the CNU goalkeeper for the eventual game-winning goal. DeLisle followed that assist up with another one in a critical CAC match against University of Mary Washington. In the 34th minute, DeLisle took the SU corner kick and played a low line-drive to senior forward Kyle Sterling (Salisbury, Md.) who riffled the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The Sea Gulls would go onto win the match, and with that claim the top-seed in upcoming CAC tournament. On the season, DeLisle has nine points on two goals and five assists.

With the top-seed, the Sea Gulls will have some additional time to rest as they received a first-round bye in the CAC tournament, which starts on Oct. 31. The Sea Gulls will host a semifinal match, scheduled for Nov. 3. Salisbury will have home-field advantage throughout the tournament and will be looking to win its third consecutive CAC championship.
