McGrath named Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference player of the week awards and Salisbury University senior defender Justin McGrath (Perry Hall, Md.) was named the men's soccer recipient for the week of Sept. 8.
McGrath helped the No. 13 Sea Gulls (3-0) to three non-conference victories in the opening week. The Sea Gulls defeated eastern-shore rival Washington (Md.) College 4-0 last Wednesday. SU then claimed the Elmer Lord Memorial Classic crown with a pair of victories including a 4-0 defeat of Capital University and a 2-0 win over Richard Stockton College. For his play McGrath was named MVP of the Elmer Lord tournament. The Sea Gull defense has gone 270 minutes without giving up a goal and has only forced their goalkeepers to make four saves.
Salisbury will look to keep up its momentum as the Sea Gulls participate next weekend in the St. Mary's Classic. SU will begin play in the tournament against Bridgewater (Va.) College on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
