Chacon distinguished as CAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference athlete of the week awards and Salisbury University senior defenseman Ryan Chacon was named the men's soccer recipient for the week of October 27.
Chacon helped Salisbury (12-3-3, 5-2-1 CAC) to a 2-0 record this past week with both wins coming over CAC opponents. The Laytonsville, Md., native helped hold Marymount (Va.) University to just four shots on Wednesday. In Saturday's scoreless double-overtime draw with University of Mary Washington, Chacon and company helped to limit the Eagles to just two shots on goal in 110 minutes of play. The draw is the 10th shutout on the season for the Sea Gull defense.
Chacon, a co-captain, is the second Salisbury player to receive CAC Player of the Week honors this season. Sophomore forward Mike Napolitano was the recipient for the week of September 8.
SU will now prepare for the upcoming CAC tournament which begins on Sunday, November 2, where the No. 3 seed Sea Gulls will host No. 6 seed Marymount (Va.) University. The game time has not been announced yet.
