Men's soccer heads into CAC tournament with No. 1 seed

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Salisbury University men's soccer team will kick-off the Capital Athletic Conference tournament this weekend as the No. 1 seed. The maroon and gold will host Hood College on Saturday, October 27, at 1 p.m.

Salisbury (12-4-1, 7-1 CAC) is hosting the CAC tournament as the No. 1 seed for the first time since 2005. SU was knocked out of last year's tournament in the semifinal round, 2-0, by eventual champion York (Pa.) College. Salisbury last won the CAC championship in 2004. SU has won five overall (1999, 2000, '02, '03, '04) titles since it has been in the conference.

The Gulls defeated the Blazers earlier this season to the tune of 6-0 at home. The Gulls finished the year unbeaten at home with an 8-0-1 mark. SU has outscored it opponents by a margin of 53-11 for the entire year.

York (Pa.) College earned the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 seed Marymount (Va.) University while No. 3 seed University of Mary Washington will host No. 6 seed Villa Julie College. The winner of the Salisbury-Hood game will take on the winner between No. 4 seed Wesley College and No. 5 seed St. Mary's (Md.) College.

All quarterfinal games are scheduled to be played on Saturday, October 27. The semifinals will take place on Tuesday, October 30 with the championship on Saturday, November 3.
