FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference released weekly awards winners for men's lacrosse on Monday afternoon and Salisbury swept the awards as Zach Pompea was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Brandon Warren was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Pompea helped Salisbury to a 2-0 week as he totaled nine total points netting five goals and dishing out four assists. Against No. 6 Cabrini University Pompea was critical in a 13-5 victory as he netted one marker while he dished out a team-high four assists. Three of his points came during an eight-goal second half for the maroon and gold, including a goal and assist in the third quarter.
He went on to post a team-best four goal performance in Salisbury's CAC opening victory against Mary Washington University on March 30 while also tallying the 100th point of his career. Pompea netted all four of his markers in the opening 30 minutes of the contest including the only two goals of the second frame. He currently sits at 56 career goals and 44 career assists.
Meanwhile, Warren picked up his 10th and 11th wins of the season totaling 113:07 minutes in cage allowing just eight goals against for a goals against average of 4.24. He recorded 16 saves for a save percentage of .667 while facing 48 shots.
Against No. 6 Cabrini Warren was outstanding recording his fourth double-digit save performance of the season making 11 stops while allowing just five goals.
For the season he has save percentage of .601, which ranks second in the conference, while his goals against average of 6.18 is a CAC-best.
Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, April 6 when the Sea Gulls travel to Frostburg State University. Faceoff with the Bobcats is scheduled for 11 a.m.
