Men's Lacrosse vs. Southern Virginia
The eleventh ranked Salisbury University men’s lacrosse team picked up its second consecutive Capital Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon defeating visiting Southern Virginia University 22-9 at Sea Gull Stadium. Emory Wongus posted a career day netting a team-high five goals to lead the offensive outburst. Wongus tallied four markers in the first half including two in the second quarter to help push the maroon and gold out to a 13-4 advantage at the break. For the day Wongus tallied five goals on six shots on goal finishing the day with a shooting percentage of 83.3. It is Wongus’ third multi game of the seaosn and first hat trick since March seventh when Salisbury beat Kenyon College 20-2. Griffin Moroney netted a season-high four goals for the afternoon including three in the second half alone. Moroney took seven shots placing four on net while also scooping up two groundballs. It is Moroney’s fourth multi-goal game of the season and first since netting two against Kenyon College. Kyle Tucker anchored a solid defensive performance scooping up a team-high eight groundballs while also causing a team-best two turnovers. As a team the Sea Gulls forced 18 Knights turnovers while causing nine. Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, April 4 when it travels to No. 15 Christopher Newport University. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
