Men's lacrosse national championship team honored in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team visited the state capital on Thursday, January 25. The program was recognized and honored by the Maryland State House for its 2017 NCAA Division III Lacrosse National Championship.

The team was invited to the State House to be honored on the floor of the House of Delegates first followed by the floor of the State Senate. The team then had an opportunity to meet and pose for pictures with Governor Larry Hogan as well as with Comptroller Peter V.R. Franchot.

Delegate Carl Anderton sponsored a resolution in the House of Delegates while Senator Jim Mathias sponsored a resolution in State Senate. Both resolutions recognized the program and Head Coach Jim Berkman for their national title run last season. 2018 team captains Will Nowesnick and John Wheeler along with Coach Berkman accepted the resolutions on behalf of the team.

Salisbury begins its 2018 season campaign and quest for its 13th national title on Sunday, February 4 against Hampden-Sydney College. The game is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
