PERRY, N.Y. – Salisbury University men's lacrosse sat on top the of the Division III Men's Lacrosse world in 2017 after its 15-7 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology in the national championship. Nothing has changed in 2018 as the Sea Gulls were named the top-ranked team in the nation by the USILA/Nike preseason coaches' poll, released by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association on Tuesday.
The other four teams to finish in the top-five were No. 2 Wesleyan University, No. 3 and 2017 National Runner-up RIT, Denison University which garnered the No. 4 spot, while fellow Capital Athletic Conference rival York College of Pennsylvania claimed the final spot.
Salisbury will square off against five of the top-20 teams in 2018 including a second week match-up against No. 12 Lynchburg College on February 10. The maroon and gold will face No. 5 York (Pa.), No. 7 Cabrini University, No. 14 Gettysburg, and No. 16 Stevenson University.
The Sea Gulls open the 2018 season on Sunday, February 4 at home against Hampden-Sydney College. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
