Tucker named US Lacrosse Magazine preseason Player of the Year finalist

SALISBURY, Md. – US Lacrosse Magazine released the 2018 preseason Player of the Year finalists watch list this week and Salisbury University defenseman Kyle Tucker was named as one of the four finalists.

Tucker, who was named the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 as well as being named an IMLCA first-team All-American, earns the honor after a stellar junior year campaign. He finished the season starting 22 of 23 games causing 30 turnovers and scooping up 67 groundballs, which ranked him third on the team, and helped anchor a defense that allowed 6.68 goals against last season. He will be looked at as one of the primary leaders both defensively and overall for the defending national champions in 2018.

The US Lacrosse Magazine staff will select a winner to be named in the NCAA Preview edition that will be released in February. The other three finalists joining Tucker are Nate Beresovoy from State University of New York at Cortland, Jordan Krug of Cabrini University, and Harry Stanton from Wesleyan University.

The Sea Gulls open the 2018 campaign on Sunday, February 4 when they host Hampden-Sydney University. The game, which is a rematch of last season's NCAA Tournament third round contest in which Salisbury defeated the Tigers 25-12, is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
