Men's lacrosse picked as top team in nation by national polls

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team ranks as the top team in the nation according to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll and rankings released on Monday.

The Sea Gulls (6-0) are unbeaten following a 14-1 win over Washington (Md.) College. Nathan Blondino had three goals and five assists to lead Salisbury's offense while the starting defense of Aaron Leeds, Will Nowesnick, and Kyle Tucker held the Shoremen to just three shots on goal.

In the USILA poll, the Gulls earned the top spot with 418 points and 19-of-21 first-place votes. To finish off the top five in the poll is Rochester Institute of Technology with 392 points and one first-place vote, Tufts University with 380 points and the last first-place vote, Ithaca College with 341 points, and St. Lawrence University with 301 points.

In the ranking, Salisbury is followed by Ithaca, Tufts, RIT, and St. Lawrence.

Due to impending weather in the region, Salisbury's next game will be played on Saturday, March 18 at Sea Gull Stadium with a 1 p.m., faceoff against the University of Mary Washington. The game scheduled for Tuesday, March 14 against Stevenson University has been pushed to Thursday, March 30.
