Men's lacrosse sits at No. 3 in nation

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team has been ranked No. 3 in the nation by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association coaches' poll and the rankings, as announced by the organizations on Monday.

Last week the Sea Gulls (18-1) fell in the Capital Athletic Conference championship game to York College of Pennsylvania by a 10-9 final. Nick Garbarino led the Gulls with three goals, all coming in the second half as Salisbury outscored the Spartans, 6-4, in the last two quarters.

In the USILA poll, Salisbury is at No. 3 with 367 points and five first-place votes. Ithaca College tops the poll for the first time all season with 378 points and eight first-place votes. Ithaca is followed by Rochester Institute of Technology with 313 points and four first-place votes. After Salisbury, St. Lawrence University (344 points and one first-place vote) and Tufts University (317 points and one first-place vote) round out the top five. Denison University also received a first-place vote and 284 points, sitting in sixth.

In the rankings, the top three from the USILA poll are mirrored in Ithaca, RIT, and Salisbury. However, Denison sits in fourth and St. Lawrence in fifth to finish out the top-five rankings.

Salisbury, the regions top-ranked team, will now look to get an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III lacrosse tournament. The selection show is set for 9 p.m., on Sunday, May 8.
