SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association coaches' poll and the Laxmagazine.com rankings, as announced by the organizations on Monday.
Last week the Sea Gulls (18-0), advanced to the Capital Athletic Conference championship game with a 14-6 win over Frostburg State University in the CAC semifinals. Carson Kalama led the charge in the game with five goals and one assist, while keeper Colin Reymann stopped 10 shots in net.
In the USILA poll, Salisbury is at No. 1 with 360 points and all 18 first-place votes. Ithaca College cracks the top five for the first time all season at No. 2 with 320 points. Rounding out the top five is Rochester Institute of Technology (313 points), St. Lawrence University (308 points), and Tufts University (286 points).
In the Laxmagazine.com rankings, Salisbury sits in first, followed by Ithaca, RIT, Denison University, and St. Lawrence.
Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, April 30 when it will host York College of Pennsylvania in the CAC championship game at 3:30 p.m.
