SALISBURY, Md. – Last week on Saturday, April 9 the Salisbury University men's lacrosse team hosted its seventh-annual Lax for Leukemia Youth Day and despite frigid temperatures and a mix of hail and rain, raised $8,380 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, exceeding its goal of $8,000.
The 615 fans, including numerous youth lacrosse organizations, who braved the weather had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction that was set up in the concourse of the brand-new Sea Gull Stadium with all of the proceeds going to the LLS.
The fans in attendance got to witness a great game with the top-ranked Gulls beating in-state rival Frostburg State University, 13-3. Salisbury got out to a quick 5-0 lead and never looked back en route to the Capital Athletic Conference victory that moved the Gulls to 15-0 on the season.
Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, April 13 when it goes on the road to take on York College of Pennsylvania. That game is set for 4 p.m., with major CAC playoff implications. If the Gulls win, they secure home field advantage throughout the CAC playoffs.
