Men's lacrosse vaults to No.1 in the nation

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association coaches' poll and the rankings, as announced by the organizations on Monday. This is Salisbury's first appearance at No. 1 this season, having been at No. 2 since February 22.

Last week the Sea Gulls (11-0) picked up two wins. First, they took down No. 17 Roanoke College by a 14-6 final at Sea Gull Stadium. Then, on Saturday, March 26, Salisbury took on Capital Athletic Conference opponent Southern Virginia University and came away with a 26-7 victory.

In the USILA poll, Salisbury is at No. 1 with 378 points and 17 of the 19 first-place votes. Rochester Institute of Technology moves up to No. 2 with 362 points and the other two first-place votes. RIT is followed by Tufts University (331 points), York College of Pennsylvania (297 points), and Amherst College (297 points), to round out the top five.

In the rankings, Salisbury climbs to No. 1 following its 2-0 week. Following Salisbury is RIT, St. Lawrence University, Tufts, and Denison University.

Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, March 30 when it hosts Wesley College in CAC play. That game is set for 7 p.m.
