Gulls stay at No. 2 in both polls following 2-0 week

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team was ranked No. 2 by both the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association coaches' poll and the rankings, as announced by the organizations on Monday.

Last week the Sea Gulls (7-0) picked up two wins. First, they took down No. 19 Stevenson University by a 13-6 final on the road. Then, on Saturday, March 12, Salisbury opened up Capital Athletic Conference play at home against St. Mary's College of Maryland and came away with a 24-7 victory.

In the USILA poll, Salisbury is at No. 2 with 377 points and three of the 20 first-place votes. Remaining in the top spot is Tufts University with 397 points and picking up the other 17 first-place votes. The other teams in the top five are Rochester Institute of Technology with 364 points and Amherst College with 336 points, while Cabrini College enters the top five with 300 points.

In the rankings, Salisbury stays put at No. 2 following its 2-0 week. Atop the poll is Tufts; following Salisbury at No. 2 to round out the top five is RIT, Amherst, and Middlebury College.

Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, March 16, when it hosts Washington (Md.) College for the annual Charles B. Clark Cup showdown. That game is set for 7 p.m.
