Men's lacrosse ranked No. 2 by both polls

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team was ranked No. 2 by both the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association coaches' poll and the rankings, as announced by the organizations on Monday.

Last week the Sea Gulls (3-0) went 2-0 with both victories coming over nationally ranked squads. On Wednesday, February 17, Salisbury used six goals in the fourth quarter to overcome a late deficit and defeat then No. 2 Lynchburg College. Three days later, the Gulls took down then No. 20 Montclair State University with a 23-7 final.

In the first in-season USILA poll of the year, Salisbury debuts at No. 2 with 331 points and two of the 18 available first-place votes following a preseason No. 5 selection. Sitting in the top spot is Tufts University with 358 points and picking up the other 16 first-place votes. The other teams in the top five are Rochester Institute of Technology with 327 points, Amherst College with 304 points, while Lynchburg College and Gettysburg College tied for fifth with 260 points.

In the rankings, Salisbury's No. 2 ranking shows the Gulls jumping up two spots as they were ranked No. 4 a week ago. Atop the poll is Tufts; following Salisbury at No. 2 to round out the top five is RIT, Lynchburg, and Amherst.

Salisbury returns to action this weekend when it goes on the road to take on No. 5 Gettysburg on Saturday, February 27.
