BALTIMORE – After finishing out the regular season with two wins, the Salisbury University men's lacrosse team moved into the top 10 of both the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III coaches' poll and the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division III Top 20 rankings, the organizations announced.
The Sea Gulls moved up two spots in both rankings, taking over the No. 8 spot with 219 points in the USILA poll and moving to No. 10 in the LaxMagazine.com rankings. Salisbury is coming off of a week that included a 19-6 victory over York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday and a 23-5 win at Washington (Md.) College on Saturday.
Both polls saw some movement in the top-five teams but agreed on the top-three teams. No. 1 Rochester Institute of Technology (360 points) earned all 18 first-place votes in the USILA poll to keep a hold on the top spot, while No. 2 Gettysburg College (339 points) also stayed put. No. 3 Ohio Wesleyan University (308 points), No. 4 Lynchburg College (299 points), and No. 5 Amherst College (296 points) all moved up one spot to round out the coaches' poll top five.
RIT, Gettysburg, and Ohio Wesleyan all held strong in the top-three spots in the LaxMagazine.com rankings, while Amherst moved up two spots to No. 4 and Lynchburg remained at No. 5.
Salisbury now looks forward to the Capital Athletic Conference tournament. The top-seeded Sea Gulls received a first-round bye and will host a semifinal contest on Saturday, April 25 against the winner of a first-round game between fourth-seeded York College of Pennsylvania and fifth-seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland on Wednesday, April 22.
