BALTIMORE – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team held its rankings within the top 10 of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III coaches' poll and the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine top-20 rankings, the organizations announced.
The Sea Gulls kept hold of the No. 6 spot in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings, as there were no changes within the top-eight teams in the poll.
With 237 points in the USILA poll, the Gulls moved to No. 7, after going 1-1 in their first two games of the season.
On Monday, Salisbury defeated Widener University 12-2 at Sea Gull Stadium to improve its record to 2-1, as freshman Chase Berquist led the team with three points in the game.
The top fives' of both polls looked a little different as Rochester Institute of Technology took over the No. 1 spot in the USILA poll, replacing No. 2 Tufts University. No. 3 Stevenson University, No. 4 Washington (Md.) College, and No. 5 State University of New York at Cortland all moved up one spot from the preseason poll.
Tufts remained No. 1 in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings, with No. 2 RIT, No. 3 Lynchburg College, No. 4 Washington, and No. 5 Stevenson all held their spots, as well.
York College of Pennsylvania was the only other Capital Athletic Conference team in both polls, coming in at No. 10 in the coaches' poll and No. 11 in Lacrosse Magazine. No. 15 Christopher Newport University and No. 20 University of Mary Washington both were in Lacrosse Magazine, as well.
Salisbury hits the field again on Saturday, February 28 to take on Gettysburg College at Sea Gull Stadium; the game is set for 1 p.m.
