YORK, Pa. - Senior attackman Luke Phipps, of the No. 3 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team, was named the Capital Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Phipps set a career high with seven points to lead the Sea Gulls over No. 2 Cabrini College on Friday night. He netted four goals to lead the team, while adding three assists. With a 66.7 shooting percentage, the Street, Md., native scored all four goals in an 8-2 stretch for Salisbury to start the second half. The spurt pushed the Sea Gulls to victory, 15-11, in the contest.
Phipps finished the week with 10 points on six goals and four assists, while picking up seven ground balls. He scored in each of Salisbury's three games this week, including wins over Wesley College and Southern Virginia University.
The Sea Gulls will be back in action on Wednesday, as they travel to Arlington, Va., for a CAC game with Marymount (Va.) University; the game is set for 5 p.m.
