SU’s Bradman chosen 18th in 2012 MLL Collegiate Draft

PHILADELPHIA – Salisbury University senior midfielder Sam Bradman was selected with the 18th pick in the third round of the 2012 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft by the Long Island Lizards on Friday.

Bradman is the second highest MLL draft pick in Salisbury program history and 11th overall for the Sea Gulls. Midfielder Justin Smith went 16th in 2005 to the Rochester Rattlers.

Bradman, a two-time USILA First Team All-American and 2010 National Midfielder of the Year, was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Division III national championship game. He scored a game-high eight points on seven goals and one assist as Salisbury defeated Tufts University, 19-7, to capture its ninth title.

A native of Canton, N.Y., Bradman was a nominee for the 2010 Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the NCAA's top player across all divisions.

In 62 career games, Bradman has posted 130 goals and 75 assists for 205 points.

Bradman was the only Division III player taken in the draft.

Long Island took Cornell University's Rob Pannell with the first pick in the draft.
