SU puts six on ECAC Division III All-Star Team
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Six Salisbury University men's lacrosse players have been named to the ECAC Division III Metro-South All-Star Team, announced recently.
Juniors Matt Cannone and Sam Bradman and seniors Collin Tokosch and Johnny Rodriguez earned first-team honors, while seniors Shawn Zordani and Nick Mooney picked up second-team plaudits.
Cannone, an attackman, led the team with 88 points and 39 assists, finishing third on the team in goals with 49.
Bradman, a midfielder and Most Outstanding Player in the national championship game, led the team with 55 goals, including a team-high 11 in man-up situations. The Canton, N.Y., native was second in points (78) and third in assists (23).
Tokosch, a defender, finished third on the team in ground balls (45) and caused turnovers (21). The Arnold, Md., native helped lead the NCAA's third-best defense that limited opponents to just 5.68 goals per game.
Rodriguez, the USILA National Goalkeeper of the Year, posted a 5.99 goals-against average (also good for third nationally) and .567 save percentage with a 19-1 record in net.
All four first-team selections also were named USILA All-Americans this season.
Zordani, a midfielder, scored 31 goals and 29 assists for 60 points. He finished fifth on team in goals and man-up goals (four) while being second in assists.
Mooney, a defender, led the team with 30 caused turnovers and added 33 groundballs.
Both Zordani and Mooney were named USILA Honorable Mention All-Americans, while all six players were also tabbed First Team All-CAC performers.
Salisbury finished 21-1 on the way to its ninth NCAA Championship with a 19-7 win over Tufts University at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on May 29.
