Men's lacrosse moves up to No. 3 in coaches' poll

BALTIMORE, Md. – A pair of wins against ranked opponents this week allowed the Salisbury University men’s lacrosse team to move up one spot to No. 3 in the nation in this week’s United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III coaches’ poll.

Salisbury topped then-No. 5 Cortland State 12-11 on Wednesday, March 10 at Haverford, Pa., and followed that up with a convincing 16-5 victory over then-No. 15 Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday. The victories helped the Sea Gulls garner 217 points in this week’s poll, trailing only No. 1 Gettysburg College (237 points, nine first-place votes) and No. 2 Stevenson University (230 points, three first-place votes).

Cortland State (181 points) moved up to No. 4 following its loss to the Sea Gulls and Middlebury College (178 points) rounds out the top five.

Salisbury will return to action Wednesday, March 17, when it hosts the College of Wooster at Sea Gull Stadium. It will mark the first night game of the 2010 season, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
