Cannone named CAC Lacrosse Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. - The No. 4 ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team has gone 2-0 in its first two games of the season, outscoring its opponents 33-15, and now the team has an individual accolade to add to its impressive first week. Sophomore attackman Matt Cannone (Bayport, N.Y.) has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 23.
Cannone is the first CAC men's lacrosse player to earn the title for the 2010 season. He scored four goals and had one assist in both of the first two games of the Sea Gulls' season. The Sea Gulls won 19-6 at Greensboro College on Feb. 14, and also defeated No. 18 Lynchburg College, 14-9, at home on Saturday. Additionally, Cannone had a combined six ground balls in the two games.
Salisbury will next play on Feb. 27, at Widener University, at 12 p.m. The maroon and gold's next home contest will be on March 3 against McDaniel College at 3:30 p.m.
