Sea Gulls drop to No. 10 in latest USILA coaches' poll
BALTIMORE - The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) coaches' poll released its weekly Top 20 on Monday and Salisbury University moved to No. 10. The Sea Gulls (11-3, 5-2 Capital Athletic Conference) collected 158 total points.
CAC foe Stevenson University (13-0, 7-0 CAC) holds the No. 1 spot for the third consecutive week. The Mustangs received 13 first-place votes and 298 points. Roanoke College (14-0) collected two first-place votes and 287 points. The Mustangs and Maroons are the last two undefeated teams in the nation. Middlebury College (9-1) moved up to No. 3 in this week's poll as the Panthers received 266 total points. Ithaca College (11-1) returns to the top five at No. 4 as it garnered 238 points. Washington & Lee University (11-1) rounds outs this week's top five. This is the Generals' first time in the top five this season as they received 223 points.
CAC member St. Mary's (Md.) College (7-5, 5-2 CAC) received recognition from the USILA as they received votes in this week's poll.
The Sea Gulls will host the University of Mary Washington (8-6, 2-5 CAC) in a CAC tournament quarterfinal game this afternoon at 4 p.m. The two teams met on March 31 as SU defeated the Eagles 14-5 at Sea Gull Stadium. The winner of today's contest will advance to the CAC semifinals on Thursday and travel to second-seed St. Mary's.
