Background on the nominees:

Kylor Berkman, 2008 Division III National Player of the Year, is up for IL Lacrosse Player of the Year and Division III Player of the Year. He finished first on the team in assists (49), second in points (83), fourth in goals (34) and fifth in ground balls (69). The junior also scored five goals and added two assists in the 19-13 victory in the national championship game where he was named Most Outstanding Player. This award is presented to best men's college lacrosse player in the nation, regardless of which division. The list is daunting, as many of the nominations have played professionally within the past year. Kylor is the only Division III player on the ballot.

Matt Hickman, a two-time All-American, is among the list of nominees for Division III Player of the Year with Berkman. He led Salisbury in many offensive categories including goals (61), points (94), and shots on goal (118). He was second on the team in assists with 33.

Head Coach Jim Berkman is among the nominees for Coach of the Year. In 2008, Jim became the all-time winningest coach in NCAA men's lacrosse history. While claiming the Division III national championship for the fifth time in the past six seasons, he was named USILA Division III National Coach of the Year. Jim is the only Division III coach on the ballot.

The thrilling Salisbury-Gettysburg double-overtime national semifinal game is in the running for the Game of the Year. In the NCAA Division III semifinal, Salisbury defeated Gettysburg 11-10 after Kylor Berkman ripped home the game-winning goal to propel SU to the national championship game.

Salisbury won its eighth national championship in program history as the Sea Gulls dismantled the No. 2 SUNY Cortland Red Dragons, 19-13, on Memorial Day weekend in Foxborough, Mass. The Sea Gulls went a perfect 22-0 for the season and extended their various winning streaks for another season.
