SALISBURY, MD. - The eight-time NCAA Division III men's lacrosse national champions Salisbury University announced its captains for the 2009 season. The three senior student-athlete leaders are midfielder Kylor Berkman, defenseman Kevin Maynard and defensive midfielder Tim O'Branski.

Berkman returns for his final season in the maroon and gold under the guidance of his father, Coach Jim Berkman - the all-time winningest coach in NCAA men's lacrosse history. Last season, Kylor was named the Division III National Player of the Year and earned the Division III Midfielder of the Year for a second year in a row. He is a two-time All-American first team selection. The Salisbury, Md., native finished first on the team in assists (49), second in points (83), fourth in goals (34) and fifth in ground balls (69) in ‘08. Berkman also scored five goals and added two assists in the 19-13 victory in the national championship game as the Sea Gulls won their 45th straight game and second straight national title over the Red Dragons. Kylor was named the Most Outstanding Player of the national title game.

Maynard started and played in all 22 games last season for the Sea Gulls. It was the first season the Salisbury, Md., native started for the maroon and gold. He racked up 31 ground balls and caused 22 turnovers on close defense for the top-ranked Sea Gulls. The three-time letterwinner was named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference second team for Salisbury.

O'Branski is back for his third season with the Sea Gulls and will help the SU defense and transition game at the defensive midfield position. The Binghamton, N.Y., native has played in 35 games in the two years he has been at SU. Last season, O'Branski saw action in 16 games where he had one assist, three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Salisbury will begin its quest for a third consecutive national championship when the Sea Gulls open at home on February 15 at Sea Gull Stadium against Scranton University at 1 p.m.
