Witmer gets to 1,000 points as men's basketball tops York
The No. 14 Salisbury University men’s basketball team earned a 77-72 win against York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon, as senior Justin Witmer became the 32nd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. The Spartans opened an early lead, but Salisbury would climb back into the game late in the first half, with Witmer notching the milestone point during a late half run. Witmer needed just one point in the game to hit 1,000 and did so on this three-pointer from the corner. Salisbury also got four first-half three-pointers from Chad Barcikowski, who scored 12 points in the first half and 17 in the game to take a 37-36 lead at halftime. In the second half, the lead changed hands early, but it was a 22-2 run that gave Salisbury control. Braedon Dorsey hit a pair of threes and Terray Quickley was five points during the run. Gordon Jeter and Barry Bratten capped the streak, with these two dunks to help gain a 14-point lead and bring Salisbury to the victory.
