YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly men's basketball honors on Monday afternoon and Salisbury University sophomore Justin Witmer picked up the Player of the Week award after lighting up the scoreboard from beyond the arc in two games this week.
This award marks the first for the Salisbury men's basketball team this season, and Witmer's first of his career.
Witmer connected on 55.5 percent of his shots from three-point land (10-of-18) to score a total of 35 points in wins against the University of Mary Washington and York College of Pennsylvania.
Against the Eagles, Witmer hit on seven out of 12 tries from outside and added another field goal and a free throw for a second-high 24 points to go with a pair of rebounds in a 71-60 win.
In Salisbury's 88-51 victory against the Spartans, Witmer made three field goals from beyond the arc as part of an 11-point night, which included five rebounds.
Witmer helped Salisbury to extend its winning streak to three during the week and the Gulls will look to keep rolling on Wednesday, January 14, hosting Marymount (Va.) University at Maggs Physical Activities Center. The game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m.
