YORK, Pa. - Salisbury University men's
basketball junior guard Greg Palmer was recognized
for his performance on the court as he was selected to the 2008-09
All-Capital Athletic Conference second team. This is the second
straight year the Salisbury, Md., native has been named to the
all-conference team.
Palmer had a solid junior campaign in which he played in all 26
games as the Sea Gulls finished fifth in the conference with a
11-15 record and 8-8 in the conference. He averaged 14.6 points per
game, 5.4 rebounds per game, 34.1 minutes per game and just under
one block a game. The junior led the team in field goals made (137)
and three-pointers made (50).
The Salisbury Christian School graduate was in many Top 10 league
categories as well. Palmer ranked first in free-throw percentage as
he shot an outstanding 88.9 percent (56-for-63) from the charity
stripe. In addition, he ranked ninth in several categories
including blocks, defensive rebounds and minutes.
Palmer was recognized several times throughout the season with
individual awards including the PrestoSports/Provident Pride Player
of the Week (December 15) and was a two-time CAC Player of the Week
selection (December 15 and January 5).
Marymount's (Va.) University coach Scott McClary took home CAC
Coach of the Year honors and Wesley's Rashawn Johnson was named the
CAC Player of the Year. York (Pa.) College's Julian Watson and
Marymount's Tarek Ammoury are co-recipients of the CAC Rookie of
the Year award.
This is the fifth straight year a Sea Gull has been named to the
all-conference team. SU has had 18 players selected since 1994-95
as 12 of them have been named to the second team.
