NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The
Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference athlete
of the week awards and Salisbury University sophomore guard
Greg Palmer (Salisbury, Md./Salisbury Christian)
was named the men's basketball co-recipient for the week of January
21. Palmer shares the award with St. Mary's (Md.) College senior
guard Tyson Lesesne.
Palmer scored a career-high 27 points in Salisbury's 72-70
victory over CAC foe Marymount (Va.) University last Saturday at
home. The win snapped SU's 12-game losing streak. For the week
Palmer averaged 20 points and five rebounds in two games. He also
made four blocks in the win over the Saints and passed out three
assists.
The Salisbury, Md., native was also named to the
PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland Honor Roll for the week of January
14-20.
For the season, Palmer leads the Sea Gulls in scoring with a
16.1 points per game average. In 15 games the sophomore has scored
241 points. He is second on the team in rebounds (68) and blocked
shots (seven) and third in assists (24).
Palmer is the first SU men's basketball student-athlete to earn
CAC Athlete of the Week honors this season.
Salisbury (3-13, 1-6 CAC) returns to action tomorrow evening as
the Sea Gulls host the CAC's top team, Hood College (12-4, 6-1
CAC), at 7:30 p.m.
