Video: Field hockey tops Johns Hopkins, 2-1
The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team topped Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday, September 20 by a 2-1 final score. The game went scoreless through the first half, with the Salisbury defense holding the Blue Jays out of the goal on a pair of penalty corners as time expired in the opening period. The Sea Gulls needed less than three minutes into the second half to get on the board, when senior Natalie Wilkinson tipped home this goal off an Emily Lemanski assist for the 1-0 lead. Johns Hopkins drew even on this rebound goal from Clare Kavanagh. But it was less than 30 seconds later when Tara Daddio put home the game winner racing down the right side before slipping a shot under Blue Jay goalkeeper Greta Helvie. The Sea Gulls return to action on Saturday, September 23 when they travel to No. 3 The College of New Jersey. The top-five showdown will begin at 6 p.m.
