GILBERT, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released its latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll and the Salisbury University field hockey team moved up one spot to No. 6 in the nation.
The Sea Gulls earned 595 points in the latest poll, 65 points clear of No. 7 Williams College, following a one-win week as Salisbury topped St. Mary's College of Maryland, 2-0, last Wednesday.
Messiah College remains the top-ranked team in the poll, with 855 points and eight first-place votes, followed by Middlebury College (808 points and six first-place votes), and Babson College (692 points). The College of New Jersey (688 points) and Christopher Newport University (682 points) round out the top five.
Salisbury and Christopher Newport are joined by York College of Pennsylvania to make three Capital Athletic Conference teams in the top 20. The Spartans dropped two spots to No. 19 in the latest poll, with 152 points.
The Sea Gulls will host York in a CAC tournament semifinal contest on Wednesday, November 1 at Sea Gull Stadium. The contest will begin at 6 p.m.
