GILBERT, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released its Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll on Tuesday afternoon and Salisbury University field hockey came in at No. 8 nationally. The Sea Gulls moved up one spot from No. 9 after a successful 1-0 week.
The Sea Gulls earned a 9-0 victory over visiting Capital Athletic Conference opponent Wesley College last Wednesday evening, 10/11. The nine goal output was the maroon and gold's largest to date this season as six Gulls tallied goals in the game with Tara Daddio netting a team-high three.
Salisbury picked up 563 points in this week's poll to move up one spot from last week and are currently 25 points clear of No. 9 Montclair State University (538) but trail No. 7 Williams College (628) by 65 points.
Messiah College remains atop the Division III Field Hockey world garnering 1,000 points and picking up 50 of 51 potential first-place votes. Middlebury College (906) moves up one spot to No. 2 in this week's poll while Babson College (879) falls one spot to No. 3. The College of New Jersey (821) remains at No. 4 while CAC rival Christopher Newport University climbed up three spots from last week to round out the top five picking up 700 points.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Wednesday, October 18 when they travel to York College of Pennsylvania. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
