CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Salisbury University field hockey team continued its ascent up the national rankings on Tuesday, earning the No. 2 spot in the nation in the most recent Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association poll.
The Sea Gulls (11-1, 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference) earned 802 points in the poll after going 2-0 this past week. Messiah College (912 points, 44 first-place votes) retained its No. 1 spot, while last week's No. 2 team, Bowdoin College, slid to the No. 3 spot (723 points) after suffering back-to-back losses over the weekend.
Tufts University (697 points, one first-place vote) and Middlebury College (674 points) switched places this week, with Tufts moving up from No. 5 to No. 4 and Middlebury falling from No. 4 to No. 5.
The Sea Gulls welcome CAC opponent Christopher Newport University to Sea Gull Stadium for their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday, October 19 at 6 p.m.
