CHANDLER, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) released its most recent rankings on Tuesday and the Salisbury University field hockey team continues its ascent up the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches' Poll, moving up to the No. 4 spot in the nation.
The Sea Gulls (7-1) started the regular season ranked seventh and have moved up a spot each week. After a pair of victories this week, including a 3-1 win over then-No. 9 The College of New Jersey, Salisbury earned 830 points to sit firmly as the fourth-ranked team in the country.
Messiah College moved up to No. 1, collecting 987 points and 32 first-place votes, while Bowdoin College dropped to No. 2 (915 points, 12 first-place votes) after falling to Middlebury College. Middlebury remained the No. 3 team for the second week in a row, earning 983 points and six first-place votes. Franklin & Marshall College rounded out the top five with 763 points.
The Sea Gulls face Lynchburg College in a neutral-site contest at the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday, September 28 before returning to Salisbury to face No. 17-ranked Mary Washington on Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
