CHANDLER, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association revealed its Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Preseason Poll and Salisbury University will open the year as the No. 7 team in the nation.
Salisbury claimed 742 points in poll, just 34 points behind No. 6 William Smith College. Middlebury College, the defending national champion, was placed atop the poll with 1,082 points and 39 first-place votes.
Bowdoin College (1,066 points and 16 first-place votes) begins the season at No. 2, followed by The College of New Jersey (999 points and two first-place votes), Ursinus College (927 points), and Franklin & Marshall College (792 points). Tufts University, sits at No. 13, picked up 419 points and the final first-place vote.
Salisbury went 14-4 in 2015, including a 5-1 mark in Capital Athletic Conference play, while claiming the CAC championship for the 19th time.
The Sea Gull open the 2016 campaign on Thursday, September 1 as they travel to Washington (Md.) College.
