Hancock earns CoSIDA Academic All-District honors
TOWSON, Md. – Academic success is nothing new for Salisbury University field hockey midfielder Kandice Hancock; her career as a Sea Gull has been peppered with accolades both on the field and in the classroom. On Friday, just one day after crossing the stage to receive her diploma, the Westover, Md., native added one more award to her list – a spot on the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District second team.
Hancock received her B.S. in exercise science on Thursday. To earn CoSIDA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore academic standing at their institution and be nominated by their sports information director.
The award caps off a highly successful field hockey career for Hancock, who was also named a Longstreth/NFHCA First-Team All-American after leading her Sea Gulls to a 16-4 record and a trip to the 2010 NCAA Division III Field Hockey tournament quarterfinals.
