Sea Gulls stay at No. 2 in the nation

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Salisbury University field hockey team further solidified its status as one of the best teams in the country, as the Sea Gulls retained their No. 2 ranking for the eighth consecutive week in this week's Kookaburra/NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) Division III poll, released Tuesday.

The maroon and gold received 900 points in the poll, just behind Messiah College's 978 points. Ursinus College, SUNY Cortland, and Tufts University rounded out the top five teams.

Salisbury (14-1, 6-0 Capital Athletic Conference) closed out regular-season play on Oct. 29, as the Gulls posted their 10th shut out of the season and took down Catholic University, 2-0. The maroon and gold's perfect conference record earned them a first-round bye in the CAC tournament, giving them an extra day to prepare to play for their 15th consecutive CAC Championship. Salisbury field hockey has captured every CAC title since 1995.

The Sea Gulls will take on CAC foe Wesley College tomorrow, Nov. 4, in a CAC semifinal match at Sea Gull Stadium. When Salisbury faced Wesley in regular-season action on Oct. 13, the Sea Gulls came away with a 4-0 victory. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
