Sea Gulls make 25th NCAA Tournament appearance, receive first-round bye

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 2 ranked Salisbury University field hockey team has been selected to play in the 2009 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship, as the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Committee released brackets on Monday, Nov. 9. The selection marks the Sea Gulls' 25th NCAA tournament appearance in program history.

Salisbury (16-1, 6-0 Capital Athletic Conference), which captured its 15th consecutive CAC Championship title on Saturday, received a first-round bye in the tournament. The Sea Gulls will be hosting the second and third rounds of the tournament on Nov. 14 and 15, but must first await the outcome of the Hamilton College (12-4) vs. the College of Wooster (16-5) game on Nov. 11 to see who they will be up against in that second round. The maroon and gold are currently ranked No. 1 in the South Region, and No. 2 nationally.

SUNY Cortland (18-0) will also travel down to Sea Gull Stadium to play in its second-round game. The Red Dragons will await the outcome of the first-round game between Christopher Newport University (15-3) and Cabrini College (11-10) on Nov. 11 to see who they will face on Nov. 14.

The maroon and gold will play in their second-round match on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at Sea Gull Stadium. Complete second and third round information is linked below, along with the official NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament bracket.
