Correll honored as CAC Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly Player of the Week awards and Salisbury University senior forward Lauren Correll (Bridgeville, Del.) was named the field hockey co-recipient. Correll shares the award with Katie Dawkins of York (Pa.) College. She is the second SU field hockey player to receive the honor, as Emily Ellenberger (Gaithersburg, Md.) won the award for the week of Sept. 14.
Correll had a huge week as she registered a point in all three Sea Gull (9-1, 2-0 CAC) victories and finished the week with 17 points (seven goals, three assists). In the win against No. 12 Rowan University, Correll dished out two assists. Correll then scored two goals and passed out one assist in the victory over Wittenberg University. The Sussex Central High School graduate saved her best for last as she scored a career-high five goals against Kenyon College on Sunday. Correll has notched at least one point in each of the last six games for the Sea Gulls.
The Sea Gulls will return to their Capital Athletic Conference schedule Saturday, October 3 when they will travel to York, Pa. to face York (Pa.) College at 1 p.m. The Sea Gulls defeated the Spartans 3-0 last season on Sept. 27, 2008.
