Walker named CAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its Player of the Week awards on Monday, and Salisbury University sophomore forward Caitlin Walker (Fallston, Md.) was named the field hockey recipient for the week of Oct. 25. Walker is the third SU field hockey player to take the honor this year, as both senior forward Lauren Correll (Bridgeville, Del.) and freshman back Emily Ellenberger (Gaithersburg, Md.) have received Player of the Week accolades this season.
Walker's outstanding performances this week helped her No. 2 ranked Sea Gulls (13-1, 6-0 CAC) clinch the top-seed, as well as a first-round bye, in the CAC tournament. She scored the first of five Salisbury goals against CAC foe Stevenson University on Oct. 20; on Oct. 25, against CAC opponent Mary Washington, Walker again scored the first goal of the game and later dished out an assist to lead the Gulls to a 3-0 victory against the Eagles.
Salisbury's next match-up will be away, against Catholic University, on Oct. 29 at 3:30 p.m. The Sea Gulls will play in the semifinal round of the CAC tournament on Nov. 4.
