CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Salisbury University
field hockey team moved up a spot to No. 8 in the latest
STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III coaches'
poll released Tuesday.
Salisbury (7-2, 2-0 Capital Athletic Conference) earned a total
of 400 points as the maroon and gold recorded two shutout wins
last week. The highlight of the week was SU's 2-0 road win against
former No. 7 Rowan University. The Profs (5-2) dropped two spots to
No. 9.
Bowdoin College (8-0), the defending national champions, remains
at No. 1 as the Polar Bears received 27 first-place votes out
of 32 for 628 points. Middlebury College (6-0) remains at
No. 2 but did not receive a first-place vote. No. 3 Johns Hopkins
University (9-0), four first-place votes and No. 4 Ursinus College
(6-2), one first-place vote, were the only other schools to receive
first-place consideration. Messiah College (4-1) rounds out the top
5 while The College of New Jersey (6-1) fell out of the top five to
No. 6.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Wednesday, October 1, as they
host Wesley College for a CAC game in Sea Gull Stadium at 6
p.m.
